Senor Rene Mir
Ajo is one of Havana’s top Torcedoras (cigar
roller). He brings with him over 15 years of experience
in the art of crafting the world’s finest cigars.
Rene learnt his
trade from his Grandfather who began rolling cigars
before the Cuban revolution and owned a small cigar
factory in Holguin, an area to the east of the island
in the Vuelta Arriba region. Rene has spent most of
his time at the particularly well known H.Upmann factory,
where he currently works today rolling Havanas and
training new recruits in the incredible art of rolling
cigars totally by hand.
Rene has achieved
the coveted 7th grade, which means in cigar rolling
terms that he can make any size and shape of Havana.
This skill takes years to perfect and only a select
few ever make this grade.
